Welcome by Executive Director Ihnen,
Our mission today is to do the best for IHSSA. Each district is allowed three votes. Judge Certification Committee sits in on this meeting to listen to the discussion, give their input, and to clarify how the test will need to be revised. The Executive Committee will meet tomorrow. They will discuss all motions, even those defeated. The Executive Committee has the authority to overturn motions forwarded by this meeting.

Hopkins asked the
committee to look at both motions #1 and 2, as they are similar and pertaining
to the same issue. Executive
Director Ihnen also pointed out that motion #57 deals with the same issue
without changing the constitution.
Motion #57 asks the Judge Certification Committee to address this
issue. The National Forensics
League also has an Acting event with a 10 minute time limit. Those students who do both NFL and
IHSSA have a difficult time editing their NFL piece to 8 minutes, 6 minutes
would be even more difficult. The
Executive Director of NFL has asked IHSSA not to change the time limit below 8
minutes. Fitzpatrick is also a Debate
Coach, he concurred that this change would most likely deter NFL students from
participating in the IHSSA event.

A
note should be made to the Judge Certification Committee so that all judges are
trained well enough to understand that contestants should not be judged
differently if they do not fill the entire 8 minutes. This issue will be
addressed this coming year at all JudgesÕ Meetings on contest days.

Addressing
the fact that students do not have to drop their head at the end of the
performance. This is something that needs to be addressed with our judges at
the beginning of the contest day. If possible, we would even like it to be a
general test question at the beginning of the day.
58. Solo Musical Theatre
– Motions 18 and 19 Judge certification to address the
