1. This will be addressed in SWIFT, a
poster will be designed similar to that used by IGHSAU and IHSAA. Also a letter in Swift from Hansen,
Coach at Large, to coaches reminding them that behavior and reactions at
contest directly affects students and parents reactions.
A
letter needs to be sent to all coaches to remind coaches of professionalism,
ethics and rules. Remind them the
eyes of IHSSA are upon them.
Working with IHSSA is not an us vs. them philosophy. The letter also needs to instruct coaches
to remind parents and performers that they need to express concerns to the
coach who acts as a liaison to the district officers.

pets are permitted at events sanctioned by
the IHSSA. Any persons found with
pet at an event will be removed from the premises. However, this
policy shall comply with the provisions of Iowa Code 216C. As such, a person with a disability or
a person training an assistive animal has
the right to be accompanied by a service dog or an assistive animal, under control. The person is liable for damage done to
any premises or facility by a service dog or assistive animal. A Òservice dogÓ means a dog specially
trained at a recognized training facility to assist a person with a disability,
whether described as a service dog, guide dog, hearing dog, support dog,
independence dog or otherwise. An Òassistive animalÓ means a simian or other
animal specially trained or in the process of being trained under the auspices
of a recognized training facility to assist a person with a disability.
