Pilot Category: Solo Musical Theatre                 

16. Solo Musical Theatre as an experimental event. All Districts will participate in the experimental year.  The category was purposed with a time limit of 5 minutes and one song, and  for only up to three contestants to be taken from the six possible acting contestants so as not to add to the length of the contest. (i.e. You may have 6 acting no solo musical theatre, 5 acting and 1 solo MT, 4 and 2, 3 and 3.

  - one song, no dialogue

  - Experimental event is a Non All-State Event

  - **Introduction can only be song, title and author..nothing else.

  - Casebook Question Q:  Is dialogue allowed in the middle of the song

        A: Yes, if itÕs part of the scripted song.  

-       This must be another authorÕs song.  The material must come from a musical.

-       Rules for this event will be sent to every school and posted on web site later this year.
