WEST DES MOINES VALLEY, INDIANOLA, DM LINCOLN, DOWLING CATHOLIC AND OKOBOJI/SPIRIT LAKE WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THE IHSSA STATE DEBATE TOURNAMENT

The Iowa High School Speech Association held the State Debate Tournament January 4th and 5th. The Tournament took place at the DMACC campus in Ankeny. Results are listed below:

Lincoln Douglas - Ross Brown, WDM Valley Champion
Katie Monson, Iowa City West

Student Congress - Des Moines Lincoln ( Conor Crawford) Champion
WDM Valley (Nick Manna) 1st Runner-up
SE Polk (Kristen Marshall) 2nd Runner-up
DMS East (Jessica Avant) 3rd Runner-up

Public Forum- Riggleman Division

Galligan Division
Jessie Ede / Matt Reisener, Indianola Champion
Josh Johnson / Natalie Radia, WDM Valley 1st Runner-up

Sweepstakes Trophy- WDM Valley . The Sweepstakes Trophy is given to the top school at the tournament. This is considered the State Championship in Debate. Indianola 4th, Okoboji / Spirit Lake 3rd, Dowling Catholic 2nd and WDM Valley 1st.
